Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 9:23-24
- Faith in God will let a person rest in peace even in a time of unrest.
- Faith in God will let a person leave the unknowns in the hands of the One we know.
- Faith in God accepts that around the enemy that may at times seem to surround us, the Captain of our Salvation with the armies of Heaven stands ready to defend us.
- Faith in God accepts that when we face a trial God may bring us through it or use it to take us to Him.
Like many others, I have numerous questions about the virus, about government decisions, about media reports, the economy, religious liberties, and Christian responsibilities.
Amidst all the unknowns and unknowable, I choose to rest in God.
Instead of wrestling with the unknowns and unknowable, I will focus on what God has made clear.
- I know I am to care for my family and the church I am a part of (Ephesians 5:25, 6:4; Acts 20:28; Galatians 6:10)
- I know I am to witness of God’s saving grace (Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 1:8).
- I know the decisions I take must hold in tension my responsibility to honor government (Romans 13) and my right to worship freely (Hebrews 10:25).
- I know I am to pray for those in positions of leadership, regardless of the form of government or political affiliation (1 Timothy 2:2).
- I know if persecution comes I must pray for my persecutor, to seek to make my enemy my brother, and to count a privilege to suffer for my Savior (Matthew 5:44; Acts 20:24; 26:29).
