Relaxing, Galilean, Vision and Dalton

Since we arrived in the USA we have had an enjoyable time relaxing and visiting with friends and family. Normally I hit the road almost immediately, but this trip has been a little different. We have been able to visit friends and our home church here in the USA. We have seen friends who have faithfully supported us in prayer and finances for a number of years. This is going to be kind of a brief update on several things. I’ll try to be more regular from now on.

We have been having a great time, but it has not all been fun and games. I have been working hard on making contacts and arranging meetings in which we can share our burden and ministry.

A few weeks ago I was able to visit with my good friend, Pastor Michael Barnett, we always enjoy the opportunity to fellowship and I am thankful for them. He pastors a church in Tarboro, North Carolina – New Grace Baptist.

It was a blessing to meet Joshua Booth, a pastor here in the USA getting ready to move to the UK and start a church there. We have exchanged several e-mails and spoken on the phone a few times, but it was good to meet in person.

One opportunity that opened up to me was to visit the GPA camp meeting hosted by Galilean Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, GA. I saw the meeting announced on a friend’s Facebook page and decided to go by for a visit. My friend, Billy Sampson, was introduced to me last year in Wales by Darren Rogers, a pastor in south Wales.

The preaching at the camp meeting was a great blessing and I enjoyed the fellowship. I met several new friends and found some who were mutual friends of others I know. It was great meeting some former missionaries to France as well as Pastor Don Jackson who was a missionary in the UK around 25-30 years ago.

Following that meeting I spent a little more time in Mauldin, SC. One task has been getting the a/c fixed on the van we are using while we are here. It is a great blessing to have transportation and I cannot thank my friends enough for loaning it to us.

This past Friday I met an old friend, Stephen Baker, and he offered to help get my a/c fixed. So, Sunday morning I drove down to GA and visited with Berean Baptist in Lilburn. I was encouraged and blessed by their music and the preaching. Again, it turned out that we had mutual friends.

Sunday evening I visited with Vision Baptist in Alpharetta, GA. Pastor Gardner and his church always give a warm welcome and I want to thank them for their hospitality.

Monday morning I drove the rest of the way up to Dalton, Georgia and met up with Stephen and April Baker. It was catching up with them and spending some time together. It was an answer to prayer to have the a/c fixed. Several friends estimated it would cost close to a $1000, in the end, with the Baker’s help, it only cost around $250.

Last night I had the opportunity to meet up with Travis Snode, an American pastor in Northern Ireland. He is over here on a short trip and we had a good time of fellowship for a short while yesterday.

I also want to mention the kindness and friendship we enjoy at our home church here in the USA, Faith Baptist in Simpsonville, SC. Pastor Ince is a great man and everyone at the church have been true friends to us. We are thankful for them all.

In between all this I have been sending out letters and making phone calls to try and book meetings. The Lord is opening doors and I am grateful for all He has done. Tomorrow we head to Tennessee, then Pennsylvania, then South Carolina, then Georgia then… only the Lord knows.
