For a few weeks we have smelt gas in and around our home, but we put it down to utility works going on at the front of our house. However, after we returned from being away for the weekend the smell in the house was very strong.
This afternoon I contact the gas company and within 30 minutes someone was here. I always feel wary about calling in this sort of thing just in case its a false alarm. However, it turns out it is not a false alarm, it’s actually a genuine problem. Gas is definitely leaking into the house via the mains. The gas is not at explosive levels but because we have a concrete floor the concern is that gas may have been accumulating under the house in the ground. The chances of that going up are slim, but if it did happen, well, it would make a big bang.
At the moment we are waiting to hear if will have to evacuate the house for a few days.
Please keep us in prayer. It has been just one thing after another recently, well, the past year it seems. I’ll not even start on it all. Anyway, we’d appreciate prayer.
P.S. The man in charge is using divining rods to find the water mains. 🙂
